The
Candlestick

What does the candlestick in the sanctuary represent?

The sanctuary served "unto the example and shadow of heavenly things, as Moses was admonished of Elohim when he was about to make the tabernacle: for See, saith He, that thou make all things according to the pattern shewed thee in the mount." Hebrews 8:5

Thus, the Candlestick is patterned after the heavenly. The candlestick was made of pure gold (Ex 25:31). The gold represents "divinity". There is no humanity in the candlestick. According to Hebrews 2:16, the angels have only "divine" nature, as it reads, "for verily He (YAHSHUA) took not on Him the nature of angels; but He took on Him the seed of Abraham."

In Revelation 1:4 the heavenly sanctuary is brought to view, John writes, "the seven spirits which are before His throne." Who are the seven spirits? The Psalmist declared, "He maketh His angels spirits; His ministers a flaming fire." Psalm 104:4 also quoted in Hebrews 1:7

"Are they not all minstering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation." Hebrews 1:14

John the Revelator said that, "the seven spirits of Elohim (are) sent forth into all the earth." Revelation 5:6

Again another interesting correlation is brought to view as YAHSHUA addresses the church of Sardis, who "hath the seven Spirits of Elohim, and the seven stars", and goes on to say, "He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before My Father, and before His angels." Revelation 3:1,5

The candlestick does not represent the Holy Spirit! But the oil that causes the candlestick to burn does. The Holy Spirit lives in us, and the angels too. The candlestick was located on the south side of the first apartment before the table of shewbread.

Tradition has a false interpretation of the candlestick. Example, Clement of Alexandria Egypt and Josephus the Jewish historian agree together in a mystical interpretation. Clement the Gnostic heretic said the golden candlestick represents "the seven planets" Stromota Book V chap VI par. 8; Josephus the same (Antiquities Book III,7,7) The Gnostic did not Know!

We must remember that Scripture is it's own interpreter. (II Peter 1:20,21)
